 infinite source of money that powers the startups of Sillicon Valley (and 
 beyond)\, that powers the "AI revolution" and "crypto revolution." You eve
 n might have heard names like YCombinator and a16z\, or terms like "Unicor
 n"\, "PMF" and "TAM".\n\nBut where does that money come from? How can you 
 get it? And why do people continue to give money to startups\, despite 90%
  of them returning 0 money?\n\nEven among IT nerds\, VC is often seen as s
 omething vague and mysterious - despite it shaping the world of technology
  since the early 2000s. Some people get money\, some don't - with little r
 hyme or reason.\n\nThis is a small talk of someone who actively participat
 ed in the VC ecosystem. The primary goal isn't to bash or praise that indu
 stry (though it deserves a lot of bashing)\, but to shine a light on how i
 t works under the hood.\n\nNote: this is an adapted version of a short lec

DESCRIPTION:We all struggle with lots of passwords\, often forgotten\, reu
 sed or leaked. Passkeys promise to free us from both the hassle and the br
 eaches. But will they solve authentication\, or are they failed by design?
  A deep‑dive into convenience\, control\, and everything between.\n\nPas
 skeys are designed to replace passwords. All you need is your phone or har
 dware token\, meaning you have to remember only one password at most. But 
 isn't that the promise of password managers? Although they fulfil a simila
 r role\, password managers usually use classic passwords\, making them see
 m like an interim solution on the way to more secure authentication. Would
 n't it be great to get rid of passwords once and for all and switch to pas
 skeys?\n\nWhile passkeys promise a passwordless future\, the reality is fa
 r more complex. User reluctance\, questionable usability and corporate int
 erests are making the case for passkeys increasingly difficult. So let's d
 elve into whether passkeys do make sense from the perspective of both prof
 essional and regular users.\n\nThis talk is not a technical deep dive into
  passkeys\, but rather addresses the issues of IT management & IAM and whe
 ther secure "passwordless" auth can work in the real world. The aim is not
  to give a bureaucratic or opinionated talk\, but to open a discussion abo
 ut enshittification and whether auth (doesn't) work(s) for both regular an
 d pro users.
